Hi, I’m Maria, the person behind Maria Canine Care.
Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and since becoming a professional dog walker in 2020, I’ve been lucky enough to work with dogs of all ages, breeds and personalities.
I’m an ISCP Advanced Canine Practitioner, but for me, working with dogs has never been about applying the same approach to every dog. They are individuals, with their own personalities, experiences and needs, and I believe they deserve to be treated that way.
My approach is kind, practical and reward-based, with a strong focus on helping dogs feel safe, build confidence and develop the everyday life skills they need.
More than just a walk
I primarily offer solo dog walks, which means the dog in my care gets my full attention.
This is particularly valuable for dogs who may find busy group walks overwhelming, young dogs who are still learning about the world, older dogs who need to take things at their own pace, or simply dogs who benefit from a walk tailored specifically to them.
Where appropriate, and always with their guardian’s agreement, I may carefully match compatible dogs to walk together when I feel they could genuinely benefit from each other’s company.
For me, a walk isn't about covering as many miles as possible. Sniffing, exploring, building confidence and simply having time to be a dog all matter.
Experience behind the qualifications
Alongside professional dog walking, my experience includes volunteering at a local rescue centre and working within doggy day care.
Both gave me valuable hands-on experience with dogs from very different backgrounds and with a wide range of personalities and behavioural needs.
I’m also committed to continuing my professional development. My qualifications include:
• Advanced Diploma (Level 6) in Canine Behaviour — Distinction
• Level 4 Ofqual Diploma in Training & Behaviour Management
• Level 3 Diploma in Kennel Assistance
• Advanced Certificate in Canine Reactive Behaviour
• Continuing Professional Development in Canine Nutrition & Wellness
I am also fully insured, DBS checked and Canine First Aid trained.

It's practical, honest guidance designed to help new puppy owners understand what’s normal, build good foundations and feel a little less overwhelmed by puppyhood.
